I’m tired. I don’t wish to be a leader, but with the options out there ranging from disheartening more-of-the-same to criminally dangerous, I’m willing to try and dedicate myself to the greater good by running for president of the United States of America.

The priorities of my platform are as follows:

• No Billionaires
• People Over Profits
• Personal Fulfillment
• Dispassionate Accountability
• Redefine Bureaucracy
• Promote Stewardship

I wonder if this is the best opportunity for an otherwise average individual to vie for the presidency. I’m not perfect, but I do want my life and the lives of as many people as possible now and in the future to be improved. I don’t particularly want for the entirety of my life and the lives of those who know me to be placed under a microscope, constantly. I also know that people are tired, overwhelmed, and exhausted. That I continue to expound upon my platform hopefully gives you a better idea of how important this nation and its people are to me.

No Billionaires

There are no clear benefits to billionaires existing. The hoarding of resources and widening of wage disparities must stop. No one person works long enough or hard enough to justify billionaire status. You cannot leading six organizations fulltime and feasibly dedicate at least 40 hours a week to each, especially while demanding over that from rank and file employees.

• Increase personal tax rates for the highest income brackets middle and rates of 100% for anything over a billion
• Advocate for trust busting
• Legislate to remove direct influence by resource holders

People Over Profits

The current market of continuously increasing profits is not sustainable. Removing the humanity from organizations to squeeze out a few extra cents of shareholder value is repugnant. People are not machines to be expected to work at 100% effort 100% of the time.

• Ensure individuals always have greater rights than organizations
• Incentivize organizations to keep low wage ratios of leadership to workers
• Uncouple healthcare from employement
• Bring worker protections in line with other nations around the world

Personal Fulfillment

People should not be trapped in jobs tied to healthcare or live in constant worry of being laid off with no notice. We shouldn’t be forced to work our entire lives just to get by or keep our heads above water with debt. All these things stifle creativity and innovation. If we want a return to local shops and ownership, we must invest in individuals.

• Work towards a realistic living wage or universal basic income that is regularly reviewed and updated
• Recognize healthcare and medical leave as human rights
• Progress towards time off offerings on par to other nations’ best practices

Dispassionate Accountability

We must hold ourselves as individuals and as a nation accountable more directly. We can no longer govern solely on folkways and mores or ‘the way things have always been done’. We must collectively come together and determine what is important to us and what our priorities are.

• Ensuring those who have undermined, exploited, and perverted the intent of our nation’s ideals are held to account
• Create more safeguards for our institutions, allowing the people the ability to recall representatives at any level who willfully fail to fulfill their duties
• Reinstill faith and respect in peace officers, by requiring additional education, licensure, and malpractice insurance to balance safety and decision-making

Redefine Bureaucracy

Our current systems and institutions have their strengths and weaknesses. Most notably the bureaucracy at times seems too dense and too nuances for most to navigate independently. We must work to review and shape our institutions thoughtfully and with clear intent to benefit the individual.

• We can make identification more secure, but we must also provide the resources to ensure any citizen can access and obtain what they need without jumping through hoops, chasing documents, or missing work
• Review our current legislative and judicial representation to better match the proportional growth of our states and territories instead of reallocating a limited set of representation that has grown fraught with issues over time
• Codify term limits and competency requirements for active representation
• Tying representative wage and benefit levels to those of the corresponding state and regional constituency that are regularly reviewed and updated

Promote Stewardship

We have a lot of work to do at all levels to heal, to show goodwill to our neighbors, and to respect ourselves while still being active members of the greater communities we are a part of. This includes our family, community, state, nation, and world.

• A national holiday for voting to increase access and ensure everyone has a chance for their voice to be heard
• Ballet items of national importance not to cement policy for the next two to six years, but to help guide priorities and topics of the biggest concern for citizens each year
• Increase civic requirements in education and communities, to show that the military is not the only way to serve your nation
